A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jemaa local government area of Kaduna state following a communal violence that broke out in the early hours of Thursday between Fulanis and natives of the community.

The latest crisis according to eyewitnesses, was  a spill over of last Sunday’s violence that erupted following  the  brutal murder  of a middle aged man  by suspected Fulani  gunmen in the community.

While the security agencies were able to restore normalcy in the area, natives told Channels Television that yesterdays’ protest by Fulanis alleging killing of their kinsmen sparked off another round of crisis in the community which prompted the chairman of the council, Daniel Amos to impose a dusk to dawn curfew pending when peace is restored in the community.

Confirming the incident to channels television, the state commissioner of police, Mr Olufemi Adenaike said the decision to restrict movement of people was to ensure that the crisis does not spill over to other parts of the state, adding that policemen and soldiers have been drafted to the area to maintain peace and order.

However, the state Governor, Muktar Yero  Yero has called on residents of Kafanchan  and indeed the entire state to remain calm and law abiding over the security breach that occurred in the area on Monday.
