Chairman, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Isiaq Yusuf gave the charge while addressing the pilgrims before they observed the first jumat service in the city of Mecca yesterday.
Yusuf, who was represented by a member of the Board, Sheik Iskieel Lawal (Sugar) urged them to observe with seriousness all necessary rites expected of them during the Hajj as prescribed by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
He said that although the pilgrimage avails them the privilege of visiting tourist sites, it should not distract their attention from the purpose of the Hajj as will be accepted by Allah.
Yusuf noted that being the first jumat service to be jointly held by the over 1,200 pilgrims from the state since their convergence on the city of Mecca, they should use it as an opportunity to preserve themselves for the task ahead of completing all Hajj rites without hindrance.
He advised them not to see the strenuous process of the rites as a punishment but a means of seeking purification and forgiveness from Allah with its reward of total cleansing as a new born child.
Also speaking, Imam Shile Rufai corroborated Lawal’s statement and said as Muslims, they should reflect the positive impact of the Hajj in their day to day activities and the betterment of the society at large.
