27-year old Darren Fletcher who plies his trade for Manchester United and his home country; Scotland has taken a longer break from his profession as he is having serious stomach problem.

The Midfielder is suffering from chronic inflammatory bowel condition called ulcerative colitis his club Manchester United confirmed.

Darren Fletcher’s last game was for his club during the champions league battle against Benfica at home where he scored.

A medical advice was given to Darren fletcher to take an extended leave and he felt it was safe to take the advice so as to heal up fully.

Fletcher signed a new four-year deal until 2015 with Manchester United in March and has made 10 appearances in all competitions for United during the current campaign.

Players are already missing him as comments on the social network Twitter showed this.

Fletcher made only one start for United last term and was an unused substitute for the 3-1 Champions League final defeat by Barcelona.

Fletcher’s absence is another blow to United, who suffered a huge setback last week when they were eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage for only the third time in 16 years.

It is also a big loss for Scotland, for whom Fletcher is an integral figure.

Fletcher’s last appearance in international football came in November’s 2-1 friendly win for Scotland in Cyprus.

He played for 64 minutes before being replaced by Brighton’s Craig Mackail-Smith.
