The Bauchi state government has shed more light on the recent explosions that rocked the state early Sunday morning.

Speaking with Channels Television in a telephone interview, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Mr Michael Adeyemi said the explosions did not completely damage the churches.

He noted that the other incident was a foiled robbery attack.

No fewer than eleven people were reported dead in the Sunday morning attack at Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi state, North East Nigeria by yet to be identified gunmen.
Two soldiers, the divisional police officer and eighth unidentified youths were those killed in the local government area.

Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Ikechukwu Aduba while confirming the incident also affirmed that there were three bomb blasts at two worship centres in Bauchi metropolis early Sunday morning with no casualties but the perimeter fence and structure of churches were partially damaged.

However, there are conflicting reports on the motives of the attack in Tafawa Balewa local government area, while the police are claiming that the attack was a robbery attack by men of the underworld attempting to rob a bank and were foiled by security agents, youths in the area claim that it was an attack on residents of the area.

In the meantime, investigations into the case by the police revealed that ten unexploded improvised explosive devices were recovered at the scene of the crime and six persons have been arrested by security agents in connection with the attack and are currently helping the police to tidy up investigations, while efforts have been intensified to round-up the fleeing gunmen”.
