Captain Umar “Blade” Aliyu (Rtd) has urged security operatives in the country to use feedback from previous insurgencies to solve the challenges presently faced in the country.
Captain Umar, who described the Nasarawa attack as gruesome also said the situation in the country is “awesome and daunting”.
He said “I get excited when these things happen because despite the gruesome nature of these developments here-in lies rich feedback”.
“If something of the nature of Baga happens, the feedback you are getting is we are nt doing something right and believe you me within these scenarios as they occur lies rich opportunity for us to come out wiser, stronger, better.If only we go to the debris of the waste and damage and sort things out”
He blamed security operatives of not using the previous experiences to prepare for the unforseen despite having a rich history of crisis.
He called for a paradigm shift from “pursuing crime to leading crime”.
He also said the crime fighters have lacked behind in growth as the “Crime sector has seen a hyperinflation of crime”.
He wondered why the crime sector has grown leaving the security agents behind.
Aliyu said it is not about the number of guns and bullets purchased but the security agents themselves.
Explaining the paradigm shift further, Aliyu said “We have to do it differently.f we keep doing it thesame way, we get thesame results”.
He charged the operatives to look at new ways of fighting crime and ending the insurgency that has rocked the nation.
