Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has inaugurated a 5-man commission of inquiry to unravel the circumstances leading to the crisis of April 14 and 15, 2013 in the Ado-Odo in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.

Governor Amosun Urged the Commission which has Justice Elizabeth Osinuga as its Chairman and Olumuyiwa Ojo as Secretary to proffer solutions that would lead to enduring peace in the community.

“We must ensure that the general peace being enjoyed in the state permeates the nooks and crannies of every community,” he said.

The Chairman of the Panel, Justice Osinuga, promised to justify the confidence reposed in members of the panel.

“We will ensure we do a thorough job and complete this assignment in a record time,” she said.

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry is to establish the remote and immediate causes of the crisis; identify individuals, groups of persons and institutions directly or indirectly responsible for the mayhem and their roles in precipitating the crisis and recommend appropriate punishments.

The panel will also ascertain the extent of loss of lives and damage to property, recommend ways of avoiding a recurrence of such unrest and make any other recommendations incidental to the Commission’s terms of reference.

The Chairman and members of the Commission are to function within the powers conferred on them by section 7 of the Commission of inquiry Law of Ogun State.

Some youth in the town had attacked the palace of Oba Lateef Akanni, the Olofin of Ado-Odo,  on April 15.

The action led to a reprisal attack by supporters of the traditional ruler which later resulted in violence in various parts of the town.

Property worth millions of naira including the palace of the Olofin, were destroyed, while several people sustained various degrees of injuries.
