As the debate for the proposed petroleum industry bill continues, a civil society organisation, environmental rights action have recommended the provision of point of extraction metering system for all petroleum products produced in the country.
The executive director of the organisation, Dr Godwin Ojo who spoke at a news conference in Abuja said the proposed metering system will provide for increased revenue, reduce oil theft and also assist regulators to determine the volume of gas flaring.
He described the petroleum industry bill as a necessary mechanism in resolving the crisis in the Niger delta region.
