The Kogi state government has presented staff of office to 29 second class and third class traditional rulers whose appointments have been approved across the 21 local government areas of the state.

While presenting the staff of office to the new appointed royal fathers at the Lokoja township stadium, the state governor Capt. Idris Wada restated his administration commitment to grading and upgrading of more traditional stool in the state periodically.

The governor Capt. Wada in his speech explained that government is giving attention to traditional institution in the state because his administration has come to term with the reality of relevance of the institution to the re-engineering of Nigeria Society as it is the fulcrum on which all issues of peaceful co-existence, decent living and adherence to traditional values depend.

While the 29 traditional chiefs took the oath of office to be of good conduct during their reign, Governor Wada after signing their certificates, presented them with the staff of authority one after the other.

Some of the newly traditional rulers who spoke to us promised to lead the people with fairness as they asked for absolute co-operation from the community.
