Following the beginning of the industrial action by National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital has paralyzed activities in the hospital, leaving patients and their families disappointed, rendering medical services in the federal hospital to the lowest level as nurses and consultants now provide skeletal services to patients.

A visit to the hospital located at Idiaba area of Abeokuta south local government by Channels Television, revealed that skeletal services are being rendered by nurses and consultants at different wards in the hospital.

Reacting to the strike action, the chairman of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr. Ibrahim Adewale said the development is imperative following the directive of the parent body which called for the industrial action after dialogue with federal government failed.

Efforts to get the reaction of the management of the hospital proved abortive as the institution’s public relations officer and the Chief Medical Director declined comment over the issue.
