The Director General of the Nigerian Chambers of Shipping, Ify Anazonwu–Akerele has said that Shipping in Nigeria is a growing ground in Nigeria because initially it was dominated by foreigners, but has now come to stay.

Speaking on Channels Television Business Morning, Mrs. Akerele stated that the shipping industry had been in existence but was dominated by foreigners. However, right now the industry is struggling to grow.

She explained the role of the Nigeria Chambers of Shipping as an industry that gives dialogue and negotiates when there is a problem, but not a regulatory body.

She added that the industry works closely with the government’s regulatory body, adding that there is still a long way to go in the shipping industry.
