A Human Capital Expert, Mike Adeleye has advocated the reduction  of poverty in Nigeria through education , explaining that the ASUU strike has lingered for about four months (120 days) ought not to be so.

Mr. Adeleye explained that the strike is depriving the students from graduating on-time thereby making them a burden to the economy and refers to the IMF report that by year 2020 poverty eradication would be reduced to 9%.

Speaking on Channels Television’s programme, Business Morning, Mr. Adeleye stated that corruption is another issue that increases poverty in Nigeria; he said the government had earlier introduced policies to help reduce poverty level in the country, adding that today all the policies have failed due to corruption.

He added that there was no understanding on how the policies will be implemented which may have led to their failure.
