The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Rep. Alhassan Ado Doguwa has commended the efforts of Ondo state government in the intervention programmes of MDGs, especially in the areas of health, urban renewal and basic education.
Hon. Doguwa gave the commendation while leading the members of his Committee on a courtesy visit to the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in his office in Akure, the State Capital.
He stressed that members of his Committee were impressed by the Mother and Child Hospitals in Akure and Ondo, the Modern Neighbourhood Markets; and the Mega Primary Schools.
Governor Mimiko while responding emphasised the need for Nigeria to address the injustice fostered on developing countries by the international financial architecture occasioned by globalization and liberalisation.
He further noted that for a rapid development to take place in developing countries, the issue of employment generation must be tackled.
