A mild drama occurred today (Saturday) at the former secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) along Nupe Road in Ilorin when members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and those of the PDP laid claim to the ownership of the secretariat.

What could have generated into a free for all was however nipped in the bud by men of the security who barricaded the two entrances leading to the building to prevent chaos.

The building, which used to have the insignia of the PDP, had been stripped of such by former members of the party, who had been deliberating on their merger with the APC.

They were however taken by surprise with the arrival of the stern looking policemen around 10AM who barricaded the two entrances leading to the event.

Gaining access by Channels T.V crew was not easy as every explanations fell on deaf ears with the shirt of the cameraman torn in the process.

The former state chairman of PDP, Ishola Balogun Fulani while explaining noted that those claiming to still be members of the PDP were planning to forcefully take over the secretariat which he said was being maintained by Sen. Bukola Saraki, warning them to desist as the building does not belong to the party.

Reacting to the issue of the ownership of the secretariat, the leader of the PDP, a member of the state House of Assembly, Ilyas Ibrahim countered the claim adding that the structure had been existing before Sen. Saraki joined politics in the state.

He noted that the exit of doctor saraki and his supporters will not affect the fortunes of pdp in the state and called on the national leadership of the party to set machinery in motion for quick takeover of the party in order not to create vacuum.
