Nigerian delegation to the World Economic Forum, which commenced on Wednesday in Davos, Switzerland, will on Thursday be focusing on “Possibilities of encouraging more foreign direct investments into Nigeria”.

The Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, will meet with ministers and foreign delegates to brief them on government’s policies geared towards the provision of a conducive investment environment for foreign investors and how they can benefit from it.

This was disclosed in an interview with Channels Television’s correspondent covering the event, Harriet Agbenyi.

“Jonathan has been doing a lot, collaborating with the private sectors. He has met with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and also with a wide range of industry players and Heads of State,” Harriet said.

One of the sessions held on Wednesday was focused on Africa and was tagged “Africa’s Next Billion”.

The session had a panel of speakers which included President Goodluck Jonathan, President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama amongst others.

The panelist emphasised that more jobs needed to be created in Africa, a development they said was only achievable through stability in Africa.

“President Jonathan said there is political stability in most African countries but there is still income inequalities and that it could only be addressed if the government and the private sector do a ‘proper hand shake’,” Harriet stated.
