Paris Saint-Germain coach, Laurent Blanc has signed a one-year contract extension and will stay with the Ligue 1 champions until 2016.

Under the management of the former French footballer, PSG became the first Ligue 1 club to successfully defend their title since Olympique Lyonnais in 2007-2008.

The 48-year old is pleased with the contract extension: “I am very happy to continue with Paris Saint-Germain. I want to be a part of this project over the long term, the most ambitious project in European football. Together, we will dream bigger.”

PSG won Ligue 1, the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophée des Champions this season and got close to reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League but lost it to Chelsea.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said: “It is perfectly justified to show our confidence in Laurent Blanc. We are very happy with his results this season, as well as the very attractive football the team has played. We are convinced we will win a lot more trophies together.”
