“We have a common enemy and we must work together to fight against them, terrorist attacks is everywhere in the US, Europe, Iran amongst other countries” he said.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Odidika insisted that Nigerians must unite to fight terrorism in the country.
He also urged Nigerians to desist from blaming terrorist attacks on political parties, “When these attacks happen, there is no issue of parties, not even in the US, everyone becomes united”, he said.
Citing the alleged bomb attack on former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, he stated that the retired General, being a member of the opposition party – APC – meant that opposing parties also need to stop throwing blames at each other.
“Just yesterday General Buhari almost died in a bomb blast, is he not an opposition party (member)? Opposition parties should stop throwing blames at the government and vice versa.”
Mr Odidika condemned the statement made earlier by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, stating that the military was not equipped to handle the sect members. He explained that the Governor should have had a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan to inform him of the challenges his state was facing in terms of security, rather than the public statement to criticize the military despite their efforts.
While urging Nigerians to support the military, he asked for a common front by security agencies and advised the Government to also equip all the agencies with adequate funds and equipment that would enable them to fight the insurgents more effectively.
