Labour Congress (NLC), Delta State Council, has issued an 11-point resolution, calling on the State Government to intensify efforts to meet the demands of workers and retirees in the state.
Among its resolutions at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Asaba, the NLC urged the State Government to fulfill its promises of monthly release of 1.5billion Naira from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to offset the backlog payment of retirees’ benefits.
The State Chairman, William Akporeha, who read the resolutions, called on the State Government to endeavor to sustain the timely payment of monthly salaries to all workers, including primary school teachers and Local Government workers in the state.
The NLC, however, commended the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for sustaining a record of prompt payment of workers’ salaries, which has heightened the mutual relationship between the Government and Labour.
