As part of commitment to ensure provision of quality education in Imo state, the State Governemnt has laid the foundation of the Imo State University (IMSU) Mbaise/Ngorokpala campus, which is to house the faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.
During the foundation laying of the university campus at Mbaise- Ngorokpala federal constituency in Imo state, Governor Rochas Okorocha, described the project as the realisation of the Late Governor Sam Mbakwe’s dream 30 years ago.
The Governor noted that the state government will fast track the completion of the school complex so that the first set of students can resume by December 2014.
When the Imo State University Owerri was established 3 decades ago by late Governor Sam Mbakwe, one of his visions was that the faculty of agriculture and veterinary medicine be situated at Mbaise-Ngorokpala area of the state to foster development and increase economic activities in the area but until the end of his tenure, the vision did not come to fruition.
The Vice Chancelor of the university Professor Ukachukwu Awuzie, praised the efforts of the state government in fulfilling the dream, and thanked the governor for uplifting the education sector in the state
