theordor orji1The Abia State Government has asked Nigerians to encourage the military to ensure that there is security and peace across the Nation that has seen several terror attacks in the northeast.

In a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minima, the Governor of Abia State, Mr Theodore Orji, pledged the state’s commitment to partnering with the military.

At the meeting held in Umuahia, Governor Orji commended the army for their assistance in wiping out kidnapping in the state and called on Nigerians to provide adequate support to the military in their efforts to stop insurgency.

According  to the Governor, nothing would stand in the way of the cordial relationship. “The state is ever ready to play their role because of the premium it place on security,” he said, urging the Army Chief to bring more military installations to Aba, the commercial hub of the state, to facilitate and enhance the job of the Army officers there.

He further stressed the need for the Army Chief to ensure that there is a synergy between his men and other security agencies in ensuring peace.

Lieutenant General Minima, said that the army would not relent in combating terrorism, stressing that support from all Nigerians would go a long way in winning the war on terror.

He thanked the State government for taking care of some of the infrastructural facilities and welfare of Army at the 14 Brigade Command Ohafia, urging the governor to do more.

He also called on the government to continue to do more to encourage the military formation in the state .

The partnership between the State government and the military has brought peace and security to Abia state, creating a conducive atmosphere for investments and ensuring the protection of lives and property of its citizenry.

Though, the Nigerian Army has an enormous role to play in the maintenance of peace and security, the citizens must also play their part to encourage the Army, by volunteering information and being security conscious.
