Femi GbajabiamilaThe House of Representatives caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised the presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party not to interfere with the affairs of the House of Representatives by attempting to reconvene the House.

The Minority Leader of the House, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, gave the advice while briefing reporters on the issues surrounding the defection of the Speaker of the House, of Representatives Mr Aminu Tambuwal.

His advice came few hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja asked the House to maintain status quo and not reconvene until it hears a case filed by Mr Tambuwal, seeking to stop the House of Representatives from reconvening before the adjourned date of December 3.

Mr Tambuwal had on November 28 announced his defection to the APC and afterwards adjourned the plenary until December.

The court had fixed the hearing on the case filed by Tambuwal on November 7.

The APC caucus said the presidency could not and should not attempt to regulate the affairs of the House, as it is an independent arm of government.

They advised the presidency to concentrate on the security situation in the country instead of attempting to remove the speaker of the house.
