The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has concluded its primary elections in all the nine federal constituencies in the state to select the candidates who will represent the party in the House of Representatives elections slated for February 14, 2015.
The election was conducted under the watch of the Independent National Electoral Commission officials and adequate security operatives were on ground in all the voting centres.
Although the exercise was adjudged free and fair, there were some minor setbacks, as election materials did not arrive on time in some of the constituencies visited, leaving the delegates waiting for a while.
The issue of consensus was also popular except in some areas like Iwo Ololuwa Ayediire Federal Constituency where two aspirants contested the position.
In Osogbo-Olorunda-Orolu-Irepodun Federal Constituency and Ede North Ede-South Eejigbo Egbedore Federal Constituency, delegates unanimously chose their candidates on a consensus platform.
The situation was the same in Ifelodun-Boripe-Odo Otin Federal Constituency, where a consensus candidate also emerged.
The south-west zonal women leader of the PDP, Mrs Atinuke Oyawoye, said the exercise showed part of the party’s preparation towards 2015 general elections.
She expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in all the elections.
