The Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, has assured Nigerians that attempts by Boko Haram insurgents to prevent the election from holding so as to create a political stalemate will fail.
The comforting words came amidst apprehension over the 2015 general elections.
Delivering a paper in Abuja at the 2014 Newsworld Annual Public Lecture, titled ‘Nigeria After 2015: Issues and Challenges’, Professor Osunbor advocated good democratic practice that would ensure the emergence of candidates who are products of a truly credible and transparent democratic process.
He said that the lack of transparency and respect for laid down rules and party guidelines has been largely responsible for the political upheavals Nigeria has experienced as a nation.
