Gunmen Kill Police Sergeant, Injure Another In Ekiti

Borno AttackGunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have attacked Ungwan Dauda village in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, killing at least 5 people, and burning down several houses.

An indigene of the area, told our correspondent that the gunmen numbering over 10 stormed the village at about 4:00am local time when the residents were still in their sleep and opened fire on them.

The gunmen also burnt several houses and farmlands before escaping into a nearby bush, following the intervention of soldiers who were immediately drafted to the area.

Another indigene of Southern Kaduna, Dr John Danfulani, said the gunmen, who stormed the village with sophisticated guns, killed a one year old baby and his mother, three others and  injured over 20 people.

He said the injured ones were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

When contacted, the spokesperson for Kaduna State Police Command, Aminu Lawan said he was not aware of any attack in the area.

Sanga is about 350km from the state capital and has faced several attacks by gunmen since the beginning of this year.
