Barely one week after two Chinese nationals were kidnapped in Kogi State, at the Zango Daji area of the town, three other Chinese nationals have also been kidnapped in the early hours of Friday by gunmen.
The three Chinese nationals were said to be kidnapped at Crusher area, a suburb of Lokoja Metropolis by 12 gunmen who stormed the company premises where the Chinese reside, between 4:00am and 5:00am local time.
They engaged in a gun battle with the Police officials attached to the Chinese and in the process one of the Police officers was killed while others sustained injury.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Samuel Ogunjemilusi, who confirmed the incident said the kidnappers escaped with their victims on foot through the bush path.
The Commissioner also confirmed one of his men was killed during the shoot out. He said the Police will soon arrest the kidnap cartel in the state.
It was recorded that 2 Chinese nationals were kidnapped earlier this month at Zango Daji are of Lokoja, while they were carrying out construction work on drainage system.
An American missionary was also kidnapped few days back, but was released, with the police saying no compensation was paid.
Kidnapping has become a trade in the central Nigerian state, with the kidnappers demanding millions as ransom.
