Nigeria’s First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan on Wednesday, told Kaduna women to vote for her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan in the forth coming presidential election (March 28) because he has performed creditably well to guarantee a re-election for another tenure.
Dame Jonathan who was represented by wife of the vice President, Mrs Amina Namadi Sambo made the appeal at the township stadium in Kaduna, North-west Nigeria, during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Presidential Campaign rally for the re-election of President Jonathan.
She stressed that President Jonathan has given women special attention by appointing them in top public offices in all sectors and have also continued to accord them their rightful places even in federal appointments.
The first lady also reiterated that President Jonathan’s administration has provided various empowerment programmes to Nigerian women, and therefore asked them to reciprocate the gesture by voting for her husband in the forthcoming presidential election.
On his part, Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Yero, told the gathering that only the PDP would take Nigeria to the promised land, stressing that the state is the stronghold of the PDP and will continue to be.
He disclosed that about 40 per cent women in the state would be benefiting in the SMEDAN project which is soon to be launched in the state, therefore encouraged the women to come out and cast their votes for the PDP.
