
Receiving the passenger coaches of the train, the Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, said that the Monorail line was a project that had been on the books of Cross River State for many years, expressing his excitement to see that the trains are finally delivered to site.
Governor Imoke, toasting to the newest tourism attraction in the state, explained that the monorail, which will run across two artificial lake, would open up employment opportunities for locals in the state.
He told reporters that an agreement had been signed with technical partners to ensure locals were trained to maintain the equipment when they take over.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ponent, the constructing firm, Mr Hahn Wolfgang, said though some materials were still being expected on site, they had undertaken 80 per cent construction work.
