Nasarawa IDPs: Al-makura Donates Mobile Clinic To CommunitiesThe Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-makura, has deployed some Mobile Clinics to some communities, in addition to the relief materials distributed to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

The distribution of relief materials to the displaced persons has been commended but some IDPs are asking the government to also take responsibility in ensuring that the items get to them.

An IDP Returnee, Abdul Akuh, revealed that the distribution was being sabotaged by some individuals in Tudun Adabu community, accusing one Saleh Moo of diverting the relief materials.

In another development, IDPs from the 2014 communal crisis in Nasarawa State located in Nigeria’s North-central region, have been returning to their lost homes since the February resettlement exercise by the State government, amidst many challenges.

The foremost challenge faced by some of the IDPs was insecurity and lack of basic needs such as accommodation, educational and health facilities.

A resident of Ugah community, Usman Aliyu and Ari Ibrahim, pointed out that there was no functional Police Station, raising concern of impending threat to civil peace, as they go about rebuilding their homes.

An IDP Returnee in Assakio community, Ishagyi Erah, also narrated that life had not be easy for most of them, as they find it difficult to get back on their feet after their homes and many years of labour were all lost to the crisis.

Assuring residents of optimum security, Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, Musa Mohammed, said the police would keep patrolling the area until peace returned, after which police post in the areas would be restored.
