gov seriake dicksonGovernor Seriake Dickson has restated his resolve to create a Bayelsa State Civil Service that is completely apolitical where appointments into key offices are made without any political considerations but strictly on merit.

He made the remark at the swearing-in of Dr Peter Singabele, as the new Head of Civil Service of the state at the Government House in Yenagoa.

Governor Dickson stressed the need for public servants to uphold the principles of neutrality and absolute loyalty to the government in power.

He expressed continued commitment to promoting workers’ welfare within limits of available resources, pointing out that apart from regular payment of salaries and pension entitlements, even in the face of the current economic meltdown bedevilling the nation, his administration has, to a very large extent, addressed the issue of office accommodation for workers.

Governor Dickson, however, charged the newly appointed Head of Service of the State, to further depoliticise and instill more discipline in the state’s Civil Service to achieve improved service delivery.

Dr Singabele is the third official to be sworn in as Head of the Civil Service under the present administration.
