Yola Blast: Death Toll Rises To 30

The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) coordinator in Adamawa state, Mr Sa’ad Bello, says that the death toll in the Jambutu Mosque bombing, Yola has risen to 30.

Mr Bello adds that 96 people are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre and Specialist Hospital Yola.

The NEMA coordinator also says that normalcy has returned to the town, while residents have been advised to remain vigilant.

On Friday, sixteen persons were killed in a suicide bomb attack on a Mosque in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State in North-east Nigeria.

The attack, which eyewitness said was carried out by a young girl, also left about 56 persons injured.

According to Channels Television’s reporter in Yola, the blast happened when worshipers were preparing for prayers on Friday.

The Governor of the State, Bindo Jibrilla, visited the victims receiving treatment at the hospital and described the incident as ‘most unfortunate’.

Meanwhile, some of the residents in the area had protested what they perceived as poor handling of the situation by soldiers, forcing the troops to shoot into the air.
