12 Cultists Renounce Membership, Get Amnesty In Ogun

Twelve members of various cult groups have renounced their membership of those cult groups in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, South West Nigeria and have since been given amnesty by the Ogun State Police Command.

Addressing traditional rulers, community leaders, parents and guardians at a ceremony held in Itori, the headquarters of Ewekoro Local Government, the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, said that cultism remains a serious crime in the state and anyone caught would no longer be treated with kid gloves.

The 12 former cultists whose activities have resulted in many armed robbery activities in their communities, decided to renounce their membership before their parents, traditional rulers and community leaders.

Giving amnesty to the former cultists, the state Commissioner of Police read the riot act on behalf of the State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, as he warned youths in Ogun State to desist from cultism.

As part of the amnesty, there was a documentation of those who renounced their membership by the Police authority for effective monitoring of their activities.
