Over 100 People Starve To Death In Somalia

IDPsFifty visually impaired Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State have benefitted from the corrective surgeries sponsored by the Nigerian Air Force.

The beneficiaries were picked out from the Dalori makeshift camp, home to over 20,000 people dislodged from Bama local council of the state.

The surgery followed months of sustained free medical care across the 20 makeshift IDP camps in Maiduguri.

The Nigerian Air Force medical team said that it has discovered that an alarming number of the elderly have developed medical conditions ranging from high blood pressure to impaired vision.

Many of such cases are reported every other day in the Air Force sick bay at the Dalori camp.

Officials say the surgery is in phases, the first phase covers 50 persons with eye issues.

Bama local council has suffered the most devastation and destruction in the hands of the Boko Haram terrorists. Locals were killed and maimed in their hundreds and properties vandalised.

The result is thousands of traumatised people evacuated after months of captivity under Boko Haram rule.

The grateful IDPs believe if more public spirited organisations and individuals engage in such humanitarian services, the world would be a better place to live in.
