Community Policing-IGPNigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has continued to campaign for community policing, community partnership and police-civil relationship.

The IGP was of the opinion that community policing is a key policing strategy that would curb the menace of crime and other criminal related issues in the country.

Mr Arase made the campaign during his visit to Imo State Police Command in Owerri, the capital of Imo State on Monday.

The IGP urged the officers of the Command to partner with the general public and the grassroots to enable them get useful information that would help in fighting crimes.

While thanking the IGP for the visit, the State Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, informed Mr Arase of some of the achievements of the Command and measures that are being put in place to checkmate the activities of criminals in the state.

Mr Lakanu also commended the Imo State Police Command for its commitment in fighting crime in the state.

After addressing the officers, Mr Arase visited the Government House where he was received by the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

The IGP also had a meeting with politicians, traditional rulers, market women, youths and artisans at the Imo International Conference Centre in Owerri.

At the meeting, Mr Arase briefed them on the need to cooperate and collaborate to fight crime in the country.
