The Federal Government has promised to provide more security and shelter for residents of Kodomun village in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Special Adviser to the President on Policy Development and Analysis, Ibrahim Bapetel Hassan, said this while leading a federal government delegation to the attacked village.
The delegates also visited the palace of paramount ruler of Demsa, the Hama Batta, His Royal Majesty, Gladstone Alhamdu Teneke and presented relief materials.
The team, led by Mr Hassan, assured the community leader of providing shelter and security for the people.
“I have heard the request of the paramount ruler and I will take that message to the government.
“He has requested for presence of security and shelter for the victims that were displaced and therefore the government will surely do something about that”, he said
The paramount ruler thanked the visiting team for taking out time to pay them a visit.
“On behalf of my council members and the entire subjects of Batta community, we thank you very much for coming here today”.
A member representing Demsa in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Lumsam Mijjah Dilli, also noted that the “community is facing serious challenge of food items and shelter.
“The government needs to do something about it hastily. I thank God for the relief materials that just came in” he said, but warned that “it is not enough for the whole community”.
Fifteen persons were killed and several others injured following an attack by herdsmen in Kodomun village.
The villagers told Channels Television that the community had gathered for the funeral of one of those killed when the herdsmen again invaded the community with sophisticated weapons shooting sporadically and setting houses ablaze.
