At least five people have been reported missing after Typhoon Chaba hit South Korea with strong winds and heavy rain.

The southern cities of Busan and Ulsan were worst affected, as well as the resort island of Jeju.

A firefighter in Ulsan who was said to be helping with rescue efforts, was also among those reported missing.

Transport services, schools, factories and the country’s main port have been grounded to a halt.

Meanwhile, the typhoon is now heading for Japan, where the meteorological agency has forewarned and flights were cancelled.
