Civil Society Orgs. Appraise Buhari's 2016 PerformanceA coalition of civil society and faith-based organisations in Abuja have commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for his anti-corruption crusade and the fight against terrorism.

The group gave the commendation at a conference to appraise the performance of the Buhari-led administration in the past one year.

The government came into power with several promises including that of fighting corruption, job creation, ending terrorism among others and the group said that it was important to look back and take stock.

The Chairman, Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) in Enugu, Mr Ken Ike, commended President Buhari for the successes he has so far recorded in the anti-corruption crusade and the fight against insurgents.

He acknowledged that the President has lived up to his promise to fight the terrorists to a standstill.

Other members of the group also applauded the President for implementing the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy, which they say has helped to block leakages in the public sector.

One of them was the convener of northern interfaith religious group, Bishop Musa Funson.

Going forward, however, the group asked the government to boost the morale of troops fighting Boko Haram in the northeast and also fulfill its promises of job creation, electricity stability and economic revitalisation in 2017.

President Muhammadu Buhari has spent about 18 months in office since he was sworn into office on May 29, 2015.

Although some have criticized his style of the government, the group expressed optimism that the days ahead would be better.
