More controversies have continued to trail the recently concluded elections into the Boards of Sports Federations as some of the elected members of the Gymnastics Federation of Nigeria (GFN) have protested the nullification of their election by the electoral appeals committee.
Speaking to Channels Television in Abuja Shortly after submitting a petition to the office of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Kelvin Ehizogie whose election as the president-elect of the Gymnastics Federation was nullified said the election appeals committee was grossly misled in arriving at the decision to announce the elections.
“I was returned unopposed – I was surprised when I heard about the conciliation of the result it was so shocking and disappointing and I feel so bad because that is a serious injustice, that was the most peaceful election we have had so far.”
Also speaking, the Vice President-elect from the northeast, Abba Inuwa, expressed disappointment and condemned the annulment of the poll.
“I was surprised honestly because I know this government of change, this government of discipline, I wonder how this thing could happen under this government. I know that there must be some error somewhere. That is why we are here to inform the honourable minister that there was an error.”
