A search and rescue operation continued on Wednesday for five people on board a U.S. military helicopter that went missing over the Hawaiian coast, as U.S. military officials said debris had been located in nearby waters.

The Army chopper crashed late Tuesday off of Oahu with two pilots and three crew members on board, said Public Affairs Officer Lt. Col. Curtis Kellogg.

“Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing. Right now, those search efforts are focused round a debris filed found this morning and some pieces of debris have started to be recovered,” he said.
