The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has paraded 11 suspects for allegedly vandalising telecommunications cables in Arigidi, Akoko North West Local Government Area of the state.

While parading the suspects on Thursday in Akure, the state Commandant, Mr Awili Pedro said the suspects were arrested by Nigeria Army along Ikare-Owo road before they were handed over to them.

Pedro said the suspects are from the neighbouring states while one of the suspects is from neighbouring Benin Republic.

“The eleven suspects were apprehended by Nigeria Army on Sunday evening after they have successfully vandalised MTN cables in Arigidi Akoko area before they handing over them to us. 25 MTN batteries, a truck, cash sum of N76,400, pillar, hammer and many other weapons were recovered from them,” he said.

He, therefore, warned vandals to steer clear of the state because the corps is positioned to deal decisively with anyone who contravenes any of these core mandates of the NCSDC.

The commandant said the suspects are still under investigation and would be charged to court for prosecution immediately after concluding the investigation.

He, however, warned those engaged in criminal activities to desist or relocate from the state because anyone caught in the acts or associated with would be decisively dealt with by the security agencies.
