
The Nigeria Football Federation says all matches involving female national teams of Nigeria will now be played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, in Benin City, the Edo state capital.
President of the NFF, Mr Amaju Pinnick, confirmed this in an interview with journalists on Saturday, after the FIFA women’s u-17 world cup qualifier between Nigeria and Ethiopia at the Ogbemudia stadium.
Mr Pinnick expressed gratitude to the Edo state government for hosting the junior female national teams, the Falconets and the Flamingos, adding that the Super Falcons will join the list.
Nigeria played a goalless draw against their Ethiopian counterparts but qualified for the next round courtesy of the away goals rule after the 1st leg match ended 1-1 in Ethiopia.
The head coach of the flamingos, Bala Nikyau, expressed his disappointment at the inability of his team to score but gave assurance of their qualification for the world cup finals.
The 6th edition of the FIFA women’s u-17 world cup will be hosted by Uruguay from November 13 to December 1, 2018 with north Korea as the defending champions.
