President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday hosted the Senior Citizens Forum of Katsina State at his private residence in Daura.

The senior citizens during the visit assured the President of their support in the forthcoming 2019 elections.

The Senior Citizens Forum include those had served the Federal, the military and the police.

Speaking after the meeting which was held closed-door with the President, one of the citizens, Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State told journalists that the meeting was to show their solidarity and full support to the President.

“Of course, some of the senior citizens who had been opportune to serve the country and are now retired also came to assure him that they will use all their connections to get more support for him,” Masari said.

He added that the senior citizens and the opinion leaders were at the meeting to show solidarity and to also identify with the President’s hopes and aspirations.

The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk and the Galadima of Katsina and former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir, were among those who attended the meeting.

The clamour for President Buhari’s re-election has continued to enjoy much growth as supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state earlier in Sunday, February 18 endorsed Buhari for the second term election.

At the party rally held in Minna, the state capital, the party also received some of the 34,826 persons said to have defected from various political parties.

President Buhari left Abuja for Katsina State on a four-day private visit on Thursday, February 15. He was received upon arrival at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International around 4:20 pm by Governor Aminu Bello Masari, the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Abubakar Yahaya Kusada, and other government officials.
