The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) today holds its state congress across the country.
While the exercise has been peaceful in some states, it was greeted by controversy in Imo, Rivers, Delta, and Oyo among other states.
The Congress in Delta and Rivers has been postponed till Monday, May 21, while a court order has been issued, stopping Imo APC ward, local state Congress from holding.

Lagos State:
In Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos State capital the Congress commenced with enthusiasm, accreditation commenced at 9:30 am.
The national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu is one of the delegates at the congress.
The venue of the Congress is under tight security.
Niger State:
10:45 am: All is set for the state congress. Accreditation is currently ongoing at three various locations.
The Congress was initially scheduled to commence by 10:00 am but accreditation did not commence until 10:45 am.
12:04 pm: Accreditation is being held at two separate places away from the venue of the congress.
Delegates from Zone “A” are being accredited at the Abdulsalami Youth Centre Minna, while those from Zone B and C are being accredited at Gidan Matasa.
Unlike in the Ward and Local Government congresses where the party only affirmed the existing leadership structures, APC is holding an election to elect the state party leaders.
04:05 pm: APC cancels election arrangement as party members affirm existing leadership structure as against initial plan. The party has 33 officials.
This is because new aspirants have emerged for various positions, including the position of the Chairman, Secretary and the Organising Secretary.
Meanwhile, Governor Abubakar Bello and some members of his cabinet are on the ground at the Zone A and B accreditation centre in Gidan Matasa to witness the exercise.
Imo State:
Less than 24 hours to the scheduled congress in Imo State, a Federal High Court in Owerri has issued a court injunction stopping anyone from participating in the state congress.
The court injunction signed by Justice Lewis Allagoa says all members of the party in Imo State including the state chairman, Hilary Eke, should restrain from organising any congress in the state pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.
However, there appears to be a crisis looming after a faction of the party vowed to go ahead with the congress.
Chief Convener of the faction called Imo APC Restoration Coalition, T.O.E Ekechi in a statement on Saturday claimed that there is no court order restraining them from holding the Congress in the state.
Governor Rochas Okorocha’s led faction had approached the court seeking to stop the conduct of the ward, LG congress or any other congress pending determination of the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.
Rivers State:
National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has on Friday announced the cancellation of the Rivers State Ward and Local Government Congresses.
The rescheduled ward and local government congresses set to hold on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the Spokesman of the Party in the State Chris Finebone, the decision was taken to avoid a collision course with the court, Following a Court Order Stopping the Congresses.
According to John Odigie-Oyegun, the party’s National Chairman and Muiz Banire, its National Legal Adviser, the decision was taken after due consideration with major stakeholders.
Borno State:
01:12 pm: Delegates in the state have returned Ali Bukar Dalori as chairman with 36 others as members of the EXCO.
They were elected via voice votes/affirmation. 1, 726 delegates were accreditated for the Congress.
The state governor, Kashim Shettima, as well as federal and state lawmakers and other key party stakeholders in Borno are in attendance.
However, the latest returnee to the party and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, is conspicuously absent at the exercise.
Kano State:

All is set for APC Congress in Kano State. It is expected that delegates from the 44 local government areas of the state will determine the leadership of the party.
The Congress is currently holding at the Sani Abacha indoor stadium.
11:18 am: Accreditation is ongoing with delegates from thirty local governments present.
11:22 am: A member of the State Local Organising Committee, Murtala Daro confirmed to Channels Television that the Congress is designed to be transparent.
Kwara State:
14:19 pm: The exercise is holding at Banquet Hall, Ilorin, the state capital.
In attendance are the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and the state governor, Mr Abdulfatah Ahmed, as well as members of the National Assembly among other APC members in Kwara.
Edo State:
10:47 am: Delegates arrived for the exercise in comrade buses after undergoing accreditation at different centres according to their senatorial districts.
Shortly after their arrival, the delegates were screen by security operatives before they proceeded to the venue of the congress.

Oyo State:
12:08 pm: Accreditation is going on peacefully at the congress.
However, another congress is underway by the Unity Forum at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road in Ibadan, the state capital.
01:03 pm: Voting ongoing through consensus candidacy at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan.
