Ekiti Lawmakers Give EFCC 21-day Ultimatum To Investigate Fayemi

 

The Ekiti State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Speaker, Segun Adewumi.

Mr Adewunmi was impeached by the lawmakers on Thursday during plenary.

He was replaced by Adesina Bamidele Animasaun.

Mr Adewunmi was impeached based on Several acts amounting to gross Misconduct, Personal conducts likely to bring the Honourable House to Disrepute, obvious threat to Peace of Honourable Members, obstruction of Constitutional Functions of The House. Dereliction, Desertion, Abscondment and Abandonment of Constitutional Vested Responsibilities of the Office of the Deputy Speaker.

In a press statement by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon Samuel Omotoso, said that the former Deputy Speaker was removed with a division list signed by two-thirds majority members and unanimously passed by the House as required by law.

The House in its resolution also mandated the Clerk to ensure that the former Deputy Speaker hands over all properties of the House with immediate effect.
Hon Omotoso said further that the House considered the unopposed Nomination of Rt Hon Sina Animasaun, Ekiti West 2, who was unanimously elected by the House as the New Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The new Deputy Speaker is a native of Okemesi-Ekiti and a Graduate of Biochemistry from the Ekiti State University.

He is a Chartered Advert Practitioner and a Public Relation Consultant with several years of Experience in Public and Political Administration.

The House congratulates the New Deputy Speaker, who is naturally endowed with great qualities of political and administrative experience.

The Chairman said In a related development that the House removed the Chief Whip of the House Hon Akinniyi Sunday from Ikere 2 and replaced with Hon Olawale Onigiobi from Ekiti South West 1.

He concluded that the Ekiti State House of Assembly wishes the New Principal Officers well in their New engagements.
