The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested eight suspected bandits in connection with an attack in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Shehu, the suspects attacked Gurbin Bore Market on Saturday evening.

“The bandits were arrested by a team of policemen when they attacked the market and abducted a native of the community,” he said in a statement.

He, however, reiterated the commitment of the police in securing lives and properties in the state.

“The command’s tactical teams swiftly arrived the scene, cordoned it off and rescued the victim from the bandits, while guns and other dangerous weapons were equally recovered from them,” Shehu added.

He further disclosed that all the suspects are in Police custody undergoing interrogation after which they will be charged to court for prosecution.

Zamfara has been having series of attacks by suspected gunmen leaving several people dead and many others injured.

On August 4, the Nigerian Air Force confirmed killing several armed bandits terrorising various communities in Zamfara State.

Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, explained this in a statement after the government sent security forces to flush bandits from the state.
