Nigeria’s Super Eagles have retained the 44th position in the monthly ranking of football playing nations by FIFA.

The team also maintained their spot as the fourth best team in Africa in the ranking released by the football governing body on Thursday.

The Teranaga Lions of Senegal are the best in Africa, followed by Tunisia and Morrocco.

Trailing Nigeria are the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Cameroon, Egypt, Burkina Faso, and Mali as the continent’s top 10.

On the world ranking, Belgium, France, Brazil, Croatia and England are still the top five footballing nations.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal climbed to sixth place while Uruguay are now seventh, as Switzerland, Spain, and Denmark make up the best 10 nations on the global ranking.

Meanwhile, the Super Falcons are expected to return to training today as they prepare to face Bayana Bayana of South Africa in the final of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

The Falcons are still on course to successfully defend their title and also get back their pound of flesh from the South Africans who defeated them in their first group game.

Coach Thomas Dennerby expects the team to create goal scoring chances and convert them in the final on Saturday in Accra, Ghana.

During a visit to the team on Thursday, President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick praised the players for qualifying for the AWCON final.

He also commended them for securing a world cup ticket and promised to give them the best preparations ahead of the global competition in 2019.

With the Super Eagles also in action at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon next year, Pinnick insisted that both teams would be given equal treatment.
