The former chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reformed Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, is praying the Federal High Court Abuja, for an interim order directing the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; and the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, to immediately take him to a reputable and recognised hospital for treatment for a “life-threatening ailment”.

In a 10-ground application on why the motion should be granted, Maina, who is currently serving his jail term at Kuje Prison, said the failure to treat the “disease” has deteriorated his health.

In the motion ex-parte filed by his lawyers, Maina stated that he is in a critical condition that requires urgent medical attention, hence it was in the interest of justice to grant his application.

The trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo granted leave for Maina to effect service of the order and other processes on Aregbesola through any member of staff of the ministry in Abuja.

He also directed that all processes for Nababa be delivered to any officer of the Service at the headquarters in Abuja.

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court had on November 8, 2021, convicted and sentenced Maina to eight years’ imprisonment for misappropriating N2 billion Pension Fund.
