The governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Katsina State, Alhaji Imrana Jino, has cautioned the electorate in the state not to make another mistake of voting for the same crop of leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

Jino also decried the level of poverty in the state which he claimed was created by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PRP candidate was speaking on Saturday in a press briefing held at his campaign office in the state capital.

He said that a total of 133 million people in the state are in abject poverty with 70 percent of them living with hunger and unemployment amidst insecurity.

Earlier in his address, the newly unveiled Director-General of the Katsina State PRP Campaign Council, Dr. Magaji Aliyu Dan-Sarai, debunked rumour circulating on various social media platforms alleging that the PRP leadership and its teeming executive members in the state have decamped to the APC.

“It has come to our notice that one Dr Ahmad Alhassan recently attended an APC campaign rally held at Ingawa LGA by the APC governorship candidate, parading himself as the state PRP chairman which is not true.

“During the rally, he allegedly told the gathering that he and PRP excos have decamped to APC.

“He should as a matter of urgency parade himself to the leadership of the PRP and withdraw his statement otherwise we will take legal action against him to serve as a deterrent.

“His action was fully sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress to achieve their self-centered mission.

“We have come to assist the people and nothing less. We are not desperate, we are doing it for the sake of Almighty Allah.

“PRP has come to better the lives of citizens, provide good leadership, and fight bribery, corruption, and slavery.

“We are also trying to revive the economy, education, healthcare, and agriculture and provide job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths to become self-reliant.

“We are equally contesting to upgrade religious and public schools and to take good care of teachers and their welfare.

“I want to call on people to shine their eyes by voting for good and responsible leaders to bring change at all levels.

“Don’t forget that PRP had instituted government in the defunct Kaduna comprising the present Katsina and Kaduna states where it did its best on socioeconomic projects, justice, and equity as well as careful utilisation of public funds,” he added.
