Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, has dispelled rumors suggesting that there is crisis brewing within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), one which led to the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as Chairman of the party.
Addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting with APC governors, Uzodinma who serves as Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, said the party remains united, adding that all stakeholders are working together for the good of the APC and the country in general.
Acknowledging the voluntary resignations of the National Chairman and National Secretary, Uzodimma commended their service to the party and expressed support for their decisions.

He also disclosed that the leadership of the party has also accepted their resignations, appointing an acting chairman and acting secretary.
Regarding the recent removal of fuel subsidy and its impact on the country’s finances, Uzodimma assured that efforts were being made to utilize the funds generated from the Federation Account in a way that benefits the citizens, labor, and the economy.
He also mentioned that steps were being taken to address the current hardship caused by the increase in food and petroleum product prices and the overall cost of living. Collaboration between the subnational and federal governments is underway to find solutions.
When questioned about the constitutionality of caretaker and acting committees, Uzodimma emphasized that there was no crisis within the party. He stated that the party won the last election by a wide margin and expressed confidence in their chances in the next election.
According to the party’s constitution, in the absence of a substantive National Chairman, the Deputy National Chairman from the same zone takes over, and the same applies to the Deputy National Secretary. Uzodimma assured that the party’s succession plan was in place and functioning well.
He stressed that the meeting concluded with reassurances of party unity and determination to continue working for the progress and success of the APC.
