The Nigerian Navy has confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects attempting to steal crude from the sea in Lagos.
The commander of the NNS Beecroft, Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, who spoke to journalists on Monday, stated that the suspected vandals were intercepted with tools meant to breach the pipelines and siphon fuel.
Personnel of the Nigerian Navy, NNS Beecroft, reportedly averted the theft at a single buoy mooring operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
The facility, located offshore close to Atlas Cove, allows vessels to discharge products for distribution.
Oguntuga noted that the suspects had been handed over to operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for further investigation and prosecution.
