The Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Borno State, Usman Tar, has described the recent suicide bombings in the state as isolated events and believes progress has been made in tackling terrorism.
He said that about 15 people have been confirmed dead and 20 people receiving treatment following the string of bombings that happened on saturday.
Usman told Channels Television on Monday that the number of terrorists and the frequency of terrorist attacks in the state have significantly reduced.
According to him, the government has intensified the rehabilitation of repentant terrorists operating in Borno State as over 160,000 of them are being rehabilitated.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, the commissioner said two terrorist organisations are suspected of having undertaken the bombings.
The attack was one of the deadliest reported in the state in recent years. The military had imposed a curfew in Gwoza LGA in the wake of the attacks.
