The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kebbi State Area Command, donated books, pens, and food items to pupils of Gwandu Emirate Model Primary School in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The donation, benefiting 1,713 pupils, was presented by the Kebbi Command Comptroller of Customs, Ernest Ehijerike.
He explained that the gesture was part of the Customs’ corporate social responsibility to their host community.

Speaking during the event, Ehijerike highlighted that the visit aimed to interact with the pupils, educate them on the role of Customs, and emphasize the importance of understanding the nation’s laws and Customs contributions to the national economy.
He further explained the importance of tax compliance, stating that
“Every working and responsible citizen should pay taxes to enable the country to generate funds for building schools and other infrastructure”.
In his response, the headmaster of the school, Aminu Sani, expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Customs officers for the charity visit. He urged them to continue such initiatives, noting that the gesture portrayed the Customs as a humane and responsible organization.
He added that the visit would inspire the pupils to consider joining the Customs Service in the future.
The Emir of Gwandu, represented by Emirate Council Member Ibrahim Bashar KKB, commended the initiative, describing it as timely. He remarked that the charity visit would help the pupils better understand the role of Customs in their community.
“This visit will eliminate any fear of Customs among the children. They now see Customs as compassionate and supporters of education.
“The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Iliyasu Bashar, is pleased with this gesture and sends his blessings to the Kebbi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service,” he said.
